Weather alerts provide Tech-specific information

In the aftermath of a tornado’s damage to downtown Atlanta, Tech community members have a tool they can use for weather information: SkyGuard.

To receive these e-mail warnings, people should follow the link on the Police Department’s Web page for hazardous weather.
“SkyGuard tracks weather specifically for the campus,” said Andy Altizer, Tech’s director of Emergency Preparedness. If severe weather will not affect the campus, a warning will not be issued, regardless of what warnings are issued for the county and city.

The Georgia Tech Emergency Notification System (GTENS) delivers SMS and phone messages for severe weather.
