Web site provides campus communications resources

  Communications & Marketing Web site

Educational Resources—Videos and handouts from C&M’s brown bag educational series are available, providing information on a wide range of topics, varying from marketing and communications basics and newly observed trends in marketing to communications resources available to campus.

Logos and Trademarks—Graphic identity standards, such as font and color usage, and information on licensing and usage guidelines are explicitly detailed. Several links to logos are provided.

Photography Resources—Information regarding Institute photography and digital archives resources is provided, as are galleries, model release information and photo shoot request forms.

Web Production Resources—C&M’s Web team has downloadable templates and production files available created in the same guidelines as Georgia Tech’s homepage. Also offered are a style guide, meta information resource and developers’ blog.

Editorial Services—Along with contact information for paid editorial services, the link also offers boilerplate copy containing general information and statistics about the Institute. Subject headings include Academic Excellence, Research Leadership and Campus Atmosphere.

Media Training—The Institute’s Public Relations team provides training for talking with reporters. Four levels of training, such as Basic Media Training and Crisis/Controversial training, are offered. Faculty, staff and students are given the skills to stay on message when undergoing interviews.

PowerPoint Templates—General, Georgia Tech–branded templates are available for use, as are tips on slide design and overall presentation.

Communications & Marketing, through a recently launched Web site, has made its resources more accessible.

Committed to providing the Georgia Tech community with professional marketing communications assistance, the office (C&M) serves as the Institute’s full-service, in-house marketing and communications resource. Working together with many units and departments on campus, C&M works to develop and execute strategies to help clients realize their specific communications and marketing goals. With the redesigned Web site, C&M can now offer a number of its resources at the click of a button.

A newly accessible online feature is the Communications Toolbox, which enables faculty, staff and students to download official logos and Institute-branded templates for Web design and PowerPoint presentations. A detailed overview of all other marketing and communications services provided by C&M is also accessible, along with a directory of all employees in the unit.

“With budget cuts and departments trying to save money, we’re hopeful that this site will help units on campus maintain a high level of quality and consistency in the materials that are produced in-house,” said Assistant Vice President Amelia Gambino.

“If people need more assistance with their communications projects, Communications and Marketing is still here to help, but we know that there are many departments on campus that will produce Web sites, brochures, PowerPoint presentations and other materials on their own. We hope they will become very familiar with the new Web site.”
