1969 alumnus Stephen Zelnak attended the April 9 groundbreaking for the Zelnak Center, a 20,000-square-foot practice facility for Tech’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. His donation was the lead gift of the $8.5 million facility, scheduled to be completed in October. From left are President G.P. “Bud” Peterson, Judy Zelnak, women’s basketball coach MaChelle Joseph, Zelnak, men’s basketball coach Paul Hewitt and Tech Athletics Director Dan Radakovich. Praising the Institute’s “student-athletes,” Zelnak said this was a way to help teams schedule practices in a way to help academically, not just athletically. “We thought this was a place where we could make a difference,” he said.
